Guinness World Record with Mobility Mania

The Judy Garland and Children’s Discovery Museum has teamed up with Myrna Peterson of “Mobility Mania – Accessibility for All” attempting a Guinness World Record for the most people in wheelchairs dancing in one place at one time. We need over 251 people in wheelchairs to make this happen!  Come one, come all to participate and support this incredible effort!

• In order to be a participant in the Guinness World Record attempt, participants must be any person with a mobility challenge that has a wheelchair to use during the dance.
• The participant needs to be dancing in the wheelchair while the music is playing.
• The participant can have an abled body help accompany them, please register them now.
• We will have extra helpers available on the day of the event. 
• Only one participant and helper can register at a time on this platform.
• There will be a small dance to learn that day, that is why people need to come early and there are very strict rules and parameters for this event in order to officially attempt the record.
• There will be registration tables to collect information that day.
• Each participant will be assigned a number bib and colored bandana to wear during the dance. 
• The Itasca Orchestra will play Wizard of Oz themed music so feel free to dress up in theme! 

SCHEDULE FOR GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

     WHERE: YANMAR ARENA'S MINER'S OUTDOOR PAVILION,  1401 NW 3rd Ave, Grand Rapids, MN 

     WHEN: SATURDAY, JUNE 21ST FROM 3-7PM

     WHAT: FREE COMMUNITY EVENT FOR PARTICIPANTS AND VIEWERS

• 3pm – Day of Registration and Practice begins for Guinness World Record participants in Miner's Pavilion
• 4pm - Wizard of Oz Carnival with bounce house, games, music, characters with food and beverage trucks
• 5pm – “Mobility Mania – Accessibility for All” attempts Guinness World Record – The most people in wheelchairs dancing to “Over the Rainbow” accompanied by Itasca Orchestra. We need over 250 people in wheelchairs to make this happen!
• 6pm - Broadway performer Marjie Shrimpton performs Judy Garland tribute
• 7pm – Accessible transportation to local venues in Grand Rapids hosting artists including
  • Rapids Brewing Company
  • Klockow Brewing Company
  • Unwind Up North
  • Eagles Club
  • Pickled Loon
• 10pm – FIRST EVER Laser Encore Light Show in Grand Rapids to cap the night off in the My Place. Hotel parking area located at 1140 SW 2nd Ave, Grand Rapids, 55744.
